Attempting something similar to this may prove to be quite challenging.

I've just created a simple "hello world" demo on jsfiddle.
This is just an illustrative example, but try typing, using backspace, and pressing enter to see the caret move back and forth.
In this demo, there are several issues that need fixing, such as:
The <backspace>
function that clears entire lines.
Arrow keys causing overflow in the textarea margins.
The cursor position not updating properly when using the mouse...
Unfortunately, it is not achievable using HTML/JavaScript.
