Can one select a garbage collection algorithm within GWT or any other JavaScript framework?

Is it feasible to select a garbage collection algorithm programmatically or through other methods (such as specifying the GC algo for the JVM) in JavaScript or any JS frameworks?

Answer №1

It is not possible to specify the GC algorithm when using GWT. GWT converts code to Javascript, meaning that at runtime only Javascript is present on the client side. In a browser environment, JavaScript applications lack the capability to control how the JavaScript VM handles memory.
