Can I use leaflet to customize the types of roads displayed on the map?

Is there a way to customize the types of roads displayed at different zoom levels using data from the OSM highways list?

I have checked the Leaflet documentation but couldn't find the answer. If you happen to come across it, please share the link.

edit: Do I need to take a step back in my development process and consider using one of these frameworks mentioned here?

Answer №1

Changing the map style in Leaflet is not supported.

If you want to customize your map, one quick way to do so is:

  • Design your desired map style using Mapbox Studio. Here, you can specify which road types should be shown at different zoom levels. Mapbox will generate the map tiles and provide them through a URL link.
  • After creating the tiles in Mapbox Studio, you can easily display them in Leaflet by adjusting the tile URL when setting up your leaflet map (or you can use Mapbox.js, which is based on Leaflet).
