Browser Compatibility in Three.js

Could someone assist me with activating webgl on Internet Explorer version 8? I am able to use Firefox and Chrome without any issues. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer №1

Unfortunately, Internet Explorer 8 does not have the capabilities to support WebGL or HTML5 Canvas, making it impossible to achieve this task. While there are canvas polyfills available for older versions of IE, these may not be effective with three.js.

One alternative is to explore Flash or Java-based solutions, as well as technologies like VRML. However, it's important to note that these options may not be compatible with three.js code and would require significant adaptation.

In my opinion, the best approach would be to simply not provide support for IE8 at all.
