Bootstrap UI Tab presents an obstacle for Google Map functionality

When utilizing the Bootstrap Tabset to include a Bootstrap slider, Google Map, and other pages, I encountered an issue where the slider functions perfectly but the Google Map does not work as expected. Interestingly, the map works perfectly in street view mode and the code works fine when accessed from a different page. What could be causing this error?

Answer №1

A similar issue arose for me recently. It appears that the map is not loading properly, causing it to be unable to calculate the correct size.

I was able to resolve this by initializing the map once the tab is first displayed. Here's an example:

var _map = null;

$('#imap').on('shown.bs.tab', function (e) {
    if (!_map) {
        // code to initialize the map goes here
    }
});

In this case, #imap represents the DIV id and 'shown.bs.tab' refers to the bootstrap event triggered when the tab is shown
