Avoid or alter the alert stating that your modifications may not be saved

I am faced with the challenge of automatically logging a user out of an application after a period of inactivity.

The issue arises when attempting to log the user out, as the browser triggers a 'Are you sure you want to leave' prompt when changes are made to a Stimulsoft report.

Is there a way to bypass this prompt? If the user makes changes and forgets to save before logging out, it leaves the system vulnerable to unauthorized access from malicious users who could simply press cancel and gain entry without triggering the auto-logout feature.

Answer №1

Greetings! I hope all is well with you. I recommend utilizing an ajax request to the logout link followed by refreshing the page upon successful completion.

$.get('url/of/logout/', function(){location.reload()})

You can also explore similar functionalities using axios or basic ajax functions in jquery.
