Are there equivalent npm variables like (`npm_config_`) available in yarn console scripts?

Utilizing variables in custom npm commands is possible (example taken from ):

{
  "scripts": {
    "demo": "echo \"Hello $npm_config_first $npm_config_last\""
  }
}

Can this functionality also be achieved with yarn?

Answer №1

This method is effective too

"tasks": {
  "check": "execute(){ if [[ $@ == *--option1* ]]; then echo 'Executing with --option1'; fi; echo 'proceed'; }; execute"
}

followed by executing: yarn check --option1

Answer №2

Yarn does not have a built-in solution for this issue, but I have found a workaround:

{
  "scripts": {
    "example0": "echo \"Hello\"",
    "example": "node -e \"const args = process.argv.slice(1).reduce((acc, arg) => { const [key, value] = arg.split('='); acc[key] = value; return acc; }, {}); console.log('Hello', args.first, args.last);\""
  }
}

How to use it:

$ yarn example0 Kevin Ross // everything after the command will be treated as one argument
// interpreted as `echo "Hello" Kevin Ross`
Hello Kevin Ross // <<< output

Recommended method:

$ yarn example first=Kevin last=Ross
Hello Kevin Ross // <<< output
