A guide on downloading and hosting Next.js documentation on your local machine for offline access

Can someone guide me on how to download and host the Next.js documentation locally for offline reference? I attempted to clone the Next.js repo containing the docs but all the files in the docs folder are markdown files, which cannot create and serve a local server for viewing. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Answer №1

After some searching, I managed to uncover archived documentation for older versions of Next.js.

Here's how I did it:

  1. Visit Next.js Github releases page.
  2. Identify the release date corresponding to the version of docs you are looking for.
  3. Head to the Internet Archive and search for: "https://nextjs.org/docs".
  4. Locate a previously saved documentation site with a date similar to that from step 2.

You can access the v12 docs through this link: Next.js v12 docs.
